About Dr. Kimball

Dr. Kimball graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from Alliant International University in San Diego. Her doctoral research examined girls’ daily peer experiences, stress, problematic substance use, and the long-term psychosocial consequences of childhood physical and relational aggression among girls.
While in graduate studies, Dr. Kimball completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Casa Pacifica in Ventura County, treating individuals in emergency crisis care and residential settings. Following the completion of her doctoral training, Dr. Kimball served as Program Coordinator of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) services at Casa Pacifica, assisting in the training, development, and implementation of an agency-wide program in PBS. Dr. Kimball has subsequently served as a consultant to counseling centers and has supervised doctoral students of psychology. She has also worked in private practice and outpatient mental health settings, providing evidence-based treatments and services in San Diego, Ventura, Los Angeles, and San Francisco before finally settling in her "home" city of San Diego.
In her private practice, Dr. Kimball’s treatment interests include working with individuals who struggle with relational issues, anxiety, mood and emotion regulation issues, behavioral challenges, childhood trauma and abuse, adjustment to family changes (such as loss, separation, and divorce), and parent education and support with managing these challenges. Through the use of evidence-based treatments, Dr. Kimball is committed to helping her clients achieve measurable improvements in their quality of life, and equips individuals with the tools they need to effectively manage their emotions, behaviors, and relationships.
In her personal life, Dr. Kimball entertains a variety of interests outside the practice of psychology, including music and the arts, practicing yoga, nature and the outdoors, attending baseball games, and spending quality time with family, friends, and her adopted rescue dog.
